Obsessive thought…
Random April 27th, 2007With all the things going on in the world today you know what i’m thinking about? “Ahhhhh, I’m going to miss the cherry blossoms!!!” With the weather I’m sure they’ve all bloomed in the last few days but Anika has been sick and so I’ve been home with her and though I tried to get her to go on a walk she was not gonna have it. Today she was feeling much better again and went back to school but it poured rain all night and it is going to rain all day and all I can think is that all that rain is going to knock all the blooms off the trees. I’m getting a little obsessed here…but no I’m not going to drag Dante out in the rain to see the trees.

funy thing about spring buds…they are really tough. this last week we had 2 straight days of pouring rain…tornado strength wind…freezing rain…hail…and SNOW…and our tree still has the flowers on it. They bounce back. So the rain will lift and you will get to see them! And yes they are sooo beautiful!

Isn’t spring the most delightful thing! I loooove it! Ours here in Tennessee got cut short though by a record freeze the first two weeks in April (it snowed!!) after record highs in March brought everything to life very quickly. But I love-love-love all the budding trees in Spring in Tennessee. The rain here does knock some of the pedals off the trees, but Deana’s right - those buds are so resilient and last a lot longer than I expect. And what the rain does knock off ends up creating this beautiful carpet of color across the ground. Amazing! So beautiful. They fall eventually anyway… So get out in the rain and see it!!

Some of my favorite memories as a kid was when my mom and I dressed in our rain slickers with hoods up, pulled on our rain boots and went walking. The only think that kept us home was lightening. I loved it! In fact, I still love it. If I were in NYC, we’d do just that Lilia! Camera in hand of couse!

Can you believe I still haven’t picked up a pair of rainboots? Silly me, I just couldn’t make up my mind on the pattern so I’ve just kept putting it off.
