After going to the Met we were again inspired to do some art.
We saw a similar project happening with a tour group of kids.
Here is “The Cat” by Giacometti we saw at the Met:

Here’s my version of a dog:

This is another one of his works: “The Square”

…and this is our version of a Giacometti sculpture project from the Usborne Art Treasury by Rosie Dickins.

Dante made the “thin” figure, I made the “dog” and Anika made the “fuller” figure. This was a fun and simple one.

This is Anika’s class project for the school auction. The concept in my mind worked a little better than the actual finished product but nonetheless the kids thoroughly enjoyed their part in this project. I do think several kids discovered hidden artistic talents. Currently this chest still graces our livingroom and we all absolutely love it. We are sure gonna miss it when we have to turn it in for bids next week.

Anika’s character is the girl on the bottom right image.

This is the art project for the school auction for Dante’s class. Another parent contributed the idea and has helped me throughout the different stages and decisions associated with this project. The final is in a silver frame but for the purposed of this post I thought the unframed portraits were much clearer since you don’t have the glare of the glass.

(Dante’s is the second one on the last row.)
“Sweet Person”
Named and created by the students of K-104, “Sweet Person” are 4″x4″ self portraits. Created in oil pastels overlaid with watercolors then mounted onto one frame with black background.
